In August 2005 Rivada Networks hosted the Forum on Public Safety on Europe and North America to discuss the overall subject of public safety: policy, implementation and communications challenges in Europe, the United States and Canada.  Senior policymakers and thought leaders from across Europe, the United States and Canada came together to discuss the challenges that policymakers and implementers face in trying to ensure greater public safety.  The Forum focused on issues such as: emergency cooperation between the civil and military power; defining the challenge of providing common solutions between Europe and North America; how the European Union and the United States can maximise the use of communication technologies to address international public safety and defence threats, and the need for more effective use of information technologies and real time interoperability to combat the threat of international crime, terrorism, natural disasters and other public safety risks in Europe and North America.
